Postcard on sand orange colored paper. There is no image, but the face of the card is has various R.P.O backstamps, each paired with an oval RMS stamp. The date of the stamps indicate the last day of service for the Texas Electric Railway. The circluar stamps say: Denison & Dallas R. P. O. TR. 9, DEC 31, 1948 Denison & Dallas R. P. O. TR. 21, DEC 31 1948 Denison & Dallas R. P. O. TR. 18, DEC 31 1948 Denison & Dallas R. P. O. TR. 10, DEC 31 1948 Domestic postage: One cent. The sender chose to use two half cent stamps of Benjamin Franklin. POSTCARD MAILING RATES IN THE UNITED STATES July 1, 1898 - November 2, 1917 = 1 cent July 1, 1919 - April 24, 1925 = 1 cent July 1, 1928 - December 31, 1951 = 1 cent On the front and back of the card, it is stamped with purple ink: Hershel E. Rankin 927 N. Highland St. Memphis 12, Tenn. An additional stamp on the back of the card says: DEN&DAL TR 21 H.L.RAY 12 31 48 |
