This section includes notes about car 311 / 317 within the 300-349 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Passenger Coach Motor (1st) #311 - (2nd) #317 Southern Traction Company, in 1913, as part of its original equipment order, purchased twelve new 1200 volt "Local Type" two-man passenger coach motors from St Louis Car Company, of which (1st) #311 was one. In 1917 this car, (1st) #311, was transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway, where it continued as the same type, bearing the same number, and was assigned the same tasks as formerly given it by Southern Traction Company. This car, (1st) #311, was used as a 1200 volt two-man passenger coach motor by Texas Electric Railway approximately until 1918, at which time it exchanged numbers with car (1st) #317, thus becoming (2nd) #317, and was continued in use as a 1200 volt two-man passenger coach motor, and was assigned the same tasks as formerly. This car, (2nd) #317, was used as a 1200 volt two-man passenger coach motor by Texas Electric Railway until approximately 1932, at which time it was converted to a 1200 volt one-man passenger coach motor bearing the same number, and was assigned the same tasks as formerly. This car, (2nd) #317, was used as a 1200 volt one-man passenger coach motor until the final days of Texas Electric Railway Company in 1948, at which time it was dismantled. |
