This section includes notes about car 602 within the 600 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Express Trail Car #602 Texas Traction Company, in 1908, purchased a new 600 volt passenger-express combine motor from St Louis Car Company, numbered #53. In 1913, this car, #53, was renumbered #553 in accordance with the combined numbering scheme of Southern Traction Company and Texas Traction Company (integrated with both companies) In 1917 this car, was transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway, but whether this was before or after the conversion mentioned in the following paragraph is not known. This car #553, was used as a 600 volt express motor until some unknown date, at which time the electrical controls were removed and it was converted into an express trail car to which was assigned the number #602. This car, #602, was used as an express trail car until the final days of Texas Electric Railway Company, in 1948, at which time it was dismantled. |
