This section includes notes about Freight Motor 906 within the 900 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Freight Motor #906 Southern Traction Company, in 1913, as part of its original equipment order, purchased ten new 1200 volt "Limited Type" two-man passenger motors from St Louis Car Company, of which (1st) #317 was one. In 1917 this car, (1st) #317, was transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway, where it continued as the same type, bearing the same number and was assigned the same tasks as originally given it by Southern Traction Company. This car, (1st) #317, was used as a 1200 volt two-man passenger motor until December 1917, at which time it was involved in a wreck. In 1918 it was rebuilt as the same type, renumbered (2nd) #311, and was assigned the same tasks as formerly given it. This car, (2nd) #311, was used as a 1200 volt two-man passenger motor by Texas Electric Railway until approximately 1932, at which time it was converted to a 1200 volt one-man operation. This car, (2nd) #311 was used as a 1200 volt one-man passenger motor until 1938, at which time it was rebuilt, electrical controls were removed and others installed (both 1200 volts), into a 1200 volt freight motor and it was renumbered #906. This car, #906, was used as a 1200 volt freight motor until the final days of the Texas Electric Railway Company in 1948, at which time it was dismantled. |
