This section includes notes about car 8 / 357 / 506 / 511 within the 500 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Express Motor (1st)#506 - #511 Texas Traction Company, in 1907, as part of its original equipment order, purchased ten new 600 volt two-man passenger motors from St Louis Car Company, of which #8 was one. In 1913 this car, #8, was renumbered #357 in accordance with the combined numbering scheme of Southern Traction Company and Texas Traction Company (integrated with both companies). In 1917 this car, #357, was transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway, where it continued as the same type, bearing the same number and was assigned the same tasks as formerly given it by Texas Traction Company. This car, #357, was used as a 600 volt two-man passenger motor by Texas Electric Railway until some unknown date (approximately 1932). Whether this car was ever converted to 600 volt one-man passenger motor operation is not known. This car, #357, was used as a 600 volt (one or two-man) passenger motor by Texas Electric Railway until at some unknown date (possibly 1934) it was involved in a wreck. After this wreck it was rebuilt into a 600 volt express motor to which was assigned the number (1st)#506. This car (1st)#506, was used as a 600 volt express motor by Texas Electric Railway until, at some unknown date, it was renumbered #511 and was continued as a 600 volt express motor. This car, #511, was used as a 600 volt express motor until the final days of Texas Electric Railway Company in 1948, at which time it was dismantled. |
