This section includes notes about car 314 / 902 within the 300-349 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Passenger Coach Motor (1st) #314 Southern Traction Company, in 1913, as part of its original equipment order, purchased ten new 1200 volt "Limited Type" two-man passenger coach motors from St Louis Car Company, of which (1st) #314 was one. In 1917 this car, (1st) #314, was transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway, where it continued as the same type, bearing the same number, and was assigned the same tasks as formerly given it by Southern Traction Company. This car, (1st) #314, was used as a 1200 volt two-man passenger coach motor by Texas Electric Railway until 1928, at which time the electrical controls (1200 volt) were removed for use on freight motor #800. The body was stored until 1934, at which time new electrical controls (1200 volt) were installed, it was rebuilt into a 1200 volt freight motor, and was renumbered #902. This car, #902, was used as a 1200 volt freight motor until 1946, at which time it was placed in storage at Monroe Shops and "pirated" of parts with which to keep other motors in operation. This continued until the final days of Texas Electric Railway Company in 1948, at which time it was completely dismantled. |
