This section includes notes about car 401 / 403 / 406 within the 400 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Passenger Coach Trail Car #401 Passenger Coach Trail Car #403 Passenger Coach Trail Car #406 Southern Traction Company, in 1913, as part of its original equipment order, purchased ten new passenger coach trail cars from American Car Company, of which #401, #403 and #406 were three. In 1917 these three cars, #401, #403 and #406, were transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway, where they continued as the same type, bearing the same numbers, and were assigned the same tasks as formerly given them by Southern Traction Company These three cars, #401, #403 and #406, were used as passenger coach trail cars by Texas Electric Railway until approximately 1932, at which time they were withdrawn from service and were placed in storage at Woodlake barn. These three cars, #401, #403 and #406, remained in storage at Woodlake barn until 1939, at which time they were burned. Whether this was by accident or design is not known. |
