Texas Electric Railway Return to Questionnaire (unsigned) to the Interstate Commerce Commision to abandon rail operations in total. This 32-page document was eventually signed, notarized and submitted to the Interstate Commerce Commission. [page 16 transcribed] 5. The estimated salvage value of the line, with a general statement of the basis of the estimate. Answer: It is estimated that the total net salvage value of the line is one million eight hundred thousand dollars ($1,800,000.00) as follows: Land, tracks, roadway, bridges and buildings .. $1,500,000.00 Telephone, trolley and feeder wires ………….... 200,000.00 Rolling stock, and roadway, shop and substation equipment …...................................……….. 100,000.00 __________ Total net salvage value ……………………... $1,800,000.00 Real estate is estimated at present day cash market value. Rail and ties are figured at secondhand cash market values; steel bridges and copper wires at present day price of scrap; rolling stock as scrap; and roadway, shop and substation equipment as half scrap and half usable. This estimate was made after a careful survey and appraisal of the property by Mr. C. F. McAuliff, active Vice President of the Company. He has been with this organization for the past thirty-four years and is familiar with the values of the materials, equipment, land and buildings used in and constituting the line and the equipment to operate it. 6.
