Reproduction postcard of a scene along the Interurban Line between Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas. The scene depicts trees surrounding a lake. In the midground, an Interurban railcar travels across a raised section of track, its reflection visible in the water below. The actual site was at Lake Erie, looking northwest. The car is westbound. Note: This postcard scene is a reproduction of two similar postcards; one identified with the caption "Image 1411: Scene on Interurban, Fort Worth, Texas" and "Image 1422: Scene on Interurban, Dallas, Texas" [see catalog numbers CP.2007.GC.2-1 and CP.2009.GC.2-3]. The coloring on this postcard is more subdued with blue and gray tones. This postcard falls into the "Divided-Back" period of postcard printing and includes the following: Left Side Top: "This Space For Writing Messages." A handwritten address [right] and message [left], in pencil, reads as follows: Address: Miss Gladys Fisher 2624 Louise St. Dallas, Texas Message: Address Red Oak Texas Velma Spaulding encircled vertical writing: "answer soon" Hello gladis how are you I am well and hope this Will find you the Same. Say gladis take good care of any [?] play house. I wish I could see you all up there. I don't no much to write. From your Friend Velma Right Side Top Left: Artistically printed 'Post Card' with scroll above and below. There is a circle emblem between 'Post' and 'Card' with an intertwined T and C. Below it is printed 'Chicago'. This was the emblem for Curt Teisch & Co., postcard publishers. Below this is printed 'This Space for Address Only'. Right Side Top Right: Square for stamp printed with: 'Place Stamp Here' Domestic One Cent Foreign Two Cents Despite having no stamp, the postcard is stamped Red Oak, Tex., SEP 6, 19__, 6 PM. Right Side Bottom Left: Postcard number 'A-11106'. |
