Scope & Content |
This section includes notes about cars 321 / 363 within the 350-399 series. The notes are typed and handwritten on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed and handwritten notes:] Passenger Coach Motor (2nd)#363 Southern Traction Company, in 1913, as part of its original equipment order, purchased ten new 1200 volt "Limited Type" two-man passenger coach motors from St Louis Car Company, of which #321 was one. In 1917 this car, #321, was transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway, where it continued as the same type, bearing the same number, and was assigned the same tasks as formerly given it by Southern Traction Company. This car, #321, was used as a 1200 volt two-man passenger coach motor by Texas Electric Railway until, at some unknown date, between 1917 and 1928 (possibly in the early twenties), the electrical controls (1200 volts) were removed and others (600 volt) installed, it was renumbered (2nd)#363, and used as a 600 volt two-man passenger coach motor. This car, (2nd)#363, was used as a 600 volt two-man passenger coach motor by Texas Electric Railway until approximately 1932, at which time it was converted to a 600 volt one-man passenger coach motor bearing the same number, and was assigned the same tasks as formerly. This car, (2nd)#363, was used as a 600 volt one-man passenger coach motor until the final days of Texas Electric Railway in 1948, at which time it was dismantled. |
