This section includes notes about car 606 within the 600 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Express Trail Car #606 Dallas Southern Traction Company, in 1912 as part of its original and only equipment order, purchased one 600 volt express motor from Osgood-Bradley Car Company, numbered #1. In 1913, when Southern Traction Company purchased Dallas Southern Traction Company, this car, #1, was transferred to Texas Traction Company, where it continued as the same type but at which time it was renumbered #550 in accordance with the combined numbering scheme of Southern Traction Company and Texas Traction Company (integrated with both companies). In 1917 this car was transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway, but whether this was before or after the conversion mentioned in the following paragraph is not known. This car, #550, was used as a 600 volt express motor until some unknown date, at which time the electrical controls were removed and it was converted into an express trail car to which was assigned the number #606. This car, #606, was used as an express trail car until some unknown date, at which time it was converted into an express-refrigerator combine trail car bearing the same number. This car was then assigned to serve the Kraft cheese company in Denison. This car, #606, was used as an express-refrigerator conbine trail car until the final days of Texas Electric Railway Company in 1948, at which time it was dismantled. |
