This section includes notes about Freight Motors 800 through 802 and 850 within the 800 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Freight Motors #800 and #801 Texas Electric Railway, in 1928, built two new 1200 volt freight motors in its Monroe Shops, numbered #800 and #801. These two cars, #800 and #801, were used as 1200 volt freight motors until the final days of Texas Electric Railway Company in 1948, at which time - - #800 was dismantled, while #801 was sold to the Charles City Western, an interurban railway in Iowa, where it continues to operate as a 1200 volt freight locomotive, numbered #303. Freight Motor #802 and (2nd)#850 Texas Electric Railway, in 1929, built one new 600 volt freight motor in its Monroe Shops, numbered (2nd)#850. This car, (2nd)#850, was used as a 600 volt freight motor until December of 1937, at which time it was wrecked. Following this wreck, early in 1938, the controls were changed on this car to 1200 volts and it was renumbered #802. This car, #802, was used as a 1200 volt freight motor until the final days of Texas Electric Railway Company in 1948, at which time it was dismantled. |
