This section includes notes about cars 616 and 617 within the 600 series. The notes are typed on the back of recycled paper. [Transcription of the typed notes:] Express Trail Car #616 - See #400 Express Trail Car #617 - See #405 Southern Traction Company, in 1913, as part of its original equipment order, purchased ten new passenger trail cars from American Car Company numbered #400 to #409 inclusive. These ten cars, #400 to #409 inclusive, were used as passenger trail cars by Southern Traction Company until 1917, at which time they were transferred to the then formed Texas Electric Railway. Two cars from this group, #400 to #409 inclusive (exact numbers unknown), were continued in use as passenger trail cars by Texas Electric Railway until at some unknown date (probably between 1925 and 1937) they were converted into express trail cars numbered #616 and #617. ----- This car, #616, was used as an express trail car until some unknown date (approximately 1939), at which time it was involved in a wreck. Following this wreck, this car was dismantled. ----- This car, #617, was used as an express trail car until the final days of Texas Electric Railway in 1948, at which time it was dismantled |
