After December 31, 1948, the last day of passenger service, Texas Electric Railway began the process of disposing of their assets. Cars were sold for $1,000.00 and moved to the buyer's desired location. A newspaper ad: "Car bodies for sale" probably ran in the Dallas Times Herald. See: Map 8
