Date |
1948, July 4 |
Description |
Texas Electric Railway CERA Special Passenger Motor 365 at Plano Station. Many of the CERA Fan Trip attendees stand either on the track or beside the building. According to Helen G. Hall, Marker Chairman for Collin County Historical Commission: " The land on which the Plano Station stands was a portion of the Joseph Klepper Survey, the Kleppers being one of the oldest settlers of the Plano area, and one of his descendants, Frank Klepper, was a noted artist in the early part of this century. His painting of the arrival of the Civil War hero, General Gen McCulloch's body at the Tucker Hotel in McKinney, hangs in the old Post Office Museum. McCulloch was killed in action at the battle of Pea Ridge and his body was on its way to his old home in Gonzales. His art work hangs in many museums. On May 3, 1907 Mrs. C. Saigling sold the strip of land to the Sherman-Dallas branch of the Interurban line, she having acquired the land in 1887 from the Southern Pacific Railway. A complete description of her lots may be found in Vol. W, page 246 of the Deeds Records a the Collin County Courthouse."
