Promotional photograph of unidentified men and women seated in a Texas Electric Railway Parlour Car. The promotional campaign was launched to persuade passengers to leave their automobiles at home and ride the Texas Electric Railway and included advertisements showing affluent and fashionably dressed passengers riding in ease and comfort aboard luxuriouly appointed jitney cars, which became fashionable beginning in 1915. Texas Electric Parlor Car Service was available at slightly higher rates than regular service. See: Map 3; Map 8 |
