This section includes notes from various men employed by Denison & Sherman Railway. [Transcription of the handwritten notes:] ...and Oh Boy, they were some cars back in those days. People went to see and ride them like going to a show. They were double truck, two trolley, cars about 40 feet long, with a smoker and main compartment that would seat 40. The numbers were 121,122,123. No (?) this was the first interurban that ever run in Texas and the Texas Electric used them a good deal after they took over, but they were finally junked. E.E.Summers Feb. 24,1949. We had mule cars first in Denison, Texas. Had twelve little cars drawn by two mules at a time. The numbers of the cars would run from number One to Twelve. Size of cars twelve to eighteen feet long and six feet wide. Would haul 14 to 30 passengers. It was single circle line about four miles long. Began working at this when I was 15 years of age and I was a driver for mule cars. The mule car station was located at Love Ave. and Chestnut Street. I worked for the mule car company until the electric cars came in. No 1 and No 2 was the numbers of the electric cars-ran from 100 block Main Street to out near the Old Mill but now at present the Kraft Cheese Plant is there. The electric cars came to Denison in 1892. I was motorman on these little electric cars until I began to work for the Denison & Sherman Ry., known as the D. & S. Co. The Denison & Sherman Electric railway was located at Wood Lake between Denison and Sherman, Tex. Had five cars and their numbers run from 21-22-23-24 and 25. Later on it run into Texas Traction Co. taken it over and the location was still Wood Lake. You ask about the dummy line. It was eight miles circle track in south part of Denison. The location of the roundhouse then was two miles south of Town. Had two little steam engines, No.1 and No 2. Very small-weigh about thousand pounds each. Had six coaches numbers run from one to six - seat about 30 passengers. Had a ball park south of town, they would go to, but didn’t have a depot or station. Just catch the dummy anywhere along the line. The locomotives they used looked like a little square box. J. W. Kidd March 6, 1949.
