  6. Early Huaco Heights Trolley - ca 1913

    Early Huaco Heights trolley, ca 1913. Like many small car lines during the trolley era, Waco's Huaco Heights Line was built to serve a real estate development. The line was merely a short shuttle at the end of Citizens Railway's Sanger Avenue line. The line's lone car, shown in this blurred, ca 1913 photograph, might have been bought from Citizens Railway.     The last Texas Electric Railway Company car, Passenger Motor 316, to leave Waco for Dallas on December 31, 1948. The train actually left the station at 9 pm. Among those posing for the photo are C. T. Dickinson and Mrs. Myrtle Mathis, wife of Motorman Sam Mathis. Note the train number (# 238) on the front of the car, which can be verified by the train schedule for that date. See: Map 7, Detail 71
