Lawrence Substation Interior view towards the door Lawrence was an unincorporated area in Kaufman County. It was settled in the early 1840s and Texas and Pacific Railway built a track nearby in 1872. There was a post office opened in 1874 and remained in operation until the 1930s. This interurban substation was built for the Texas Interurban Railway that ran from Dallas to Terrell from 1923 to 1932. It has been torn down. The timetables in 1924 listed the Texas Interurban made 12 trips each way to Denton and 8 trips each way to Terrell. Ref: "Texas Electric Railway", by Johnnie J.
