John J. Myers, or 'Johnnie' J. Myers as he prefers to be called, was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Myers has been an active electric railway fan since early childhood and has amassed a large collection of photographs and objects connected with the Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas interurban systems. A dedicated hobbyist and railroad enthusiast, Mr. Myers authored a major work on the subject entitled: 'Texas Electric Railway'. Mr. Myers spearheaded the work to designate the Plano Station as an historical site and museum as well as restore Texas Electric Passenger Motor 360 which is currently located at the Interurban Railway Museum. |

Deteriorated Exterior of Plano Depot - West Elevation - ca 1983
After 73 years, the west exterior facing of the Plano station indicated the building was ready for demolition. However, it avoided that fate through the efforts of a group of advocates, led by Johnnie J. Myers, to save the distinctive, historical building. Deteriorated Interior of Plano Depot - West Elevation - ca 1983
The interior behind the west exterior facing of the prior Plano substation reflected the same deterioration at this time. The building had been used for multiple business enterprises since it was closed after abandonment of the interurban at the end of 1948. The interior behind the west exterior facing of the prior Plano station ticket office reflected the same deterioration at this time. One of the multiple business enterprises housed in the building was a lawn mower repair shop.
